We hope to see you at this year’s Friendship Dinner on Oct. 26!
This year, we will both reflect on our past 80 years as an organization and share a vision that compels us forward – a future where health care and emergency shelter are seamlessly integrated in our community.
The difficulties of those experiencing homelessness in Waterloo Region are huge – in addition to not having a place to live, many are dealing with complex health challenges including mental health, addiction, and/or physical health.
The increased accessibility of dangerous street drugs as well as limited access to primary health care means that an already burdened emergency health care system is taxed to the limit in meeting the needs of our chronically homeless population, which continues to grow due to the severe shortage of local affordable and supportive housing.
There is a better way!
