Do you remember how hard you have to work to stay warm on the coldest days of winter?
I do, because I lived in my car.
I had a routine. I would start by lighting candles, adding foam around every window, to keep the heat in. Then I would wear a snowsuit to bed. I’d run the car as long as it felt safe, and I would put out the candles before falling asleep. It was a nightly routine that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone.
My name is John, and for eight months of my life I lived in my car because I had nowhere else to turn.
That’s before I found my way to House of Friendship, and got the help I needed.
Today, you can help guys like me get the fresh start they so desperately need. Your gift will help provide more than shelter from the cold – it will provide health care, along with mental health and addiction support for men experiencing homelessness.
Please consider your most generous gift today!
