What is RAAM?

The Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic (RAAM) is a space where individuals of any age can access support for substance use disorders. RAAM is an easy access, walk-in clinic that individuals can access without an appointment or formal referral. RAAM services are covered by OHIP and are available to those who may need to obtain a health care. Services are time-limited, and individuals are transferred back to primary care upon completion of their participation.

Our multidisciplinary team consists of medical providers, addiction counsellors and peer support workers who have lived experience. All team members are available to support each person’s unique needs. RAAM provides holistic, trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment and interventions for both abstinence and harm reduction needs.

Services Offered Include:

Assessment

Assessment and diagnosis of substance-use concerns & review of treatment options

addiction medication

Education and medication support related to withdrawal and cravings

Psychosocial Support

Brief Individual Counselling and  Peer Support

Person Centered

Trauma-Informed, holistic and culturally safe care

harm reduction

Education on overdose prevention and the use of naloxone

Referrals

Referrals to longer-term supports for ongoing care

Initial intake appointments are provided on a walk-in basis. Arriving earlier in the day is recommended, especially if you are seeking medical support, due to high patient volume.

RAAM Clinics provide addiction medicine, short term counselling and peer support. For support with management of severe withdrawal, please connect with Withdrawal Management through Grand River Hospital. For severe psychiatric illness support, chronic pain management where substance use is not a concern, or general long term care, please connect with your primary care provider. If you are interested in ongoing counselling, please visit our main website.

*Please note: We cannot guarantee that medication will be prescribed during your visit. All medications are prescribed at the discretion of our medical providers.
