Planting a Seed For House of Friendship

John and his wife Andrea

Meet John Neufeld

“As the former Executive Director of House of Friendship, I was lucky to sit under the shade of trees that were planted by those who came before me.

Over the years, the small seedlings our community planted together—ideas, programs, relationships—grew into sturdy trees providing shelter, nourishment, and hope for our community’s most vulnerable members. I was fortunate to be a part of this growth—and in my 16 years with this remarkable organization, I was blessed to plant a few seeds myself.

That’s why including House of Friendship in my Will was an easy decision. My wife Andrea and I always believed in the power of generosity and caring for our neighbours. It brings us a deep sense of fulfillment to know that we can care for both our children and the community we love, in the future.

Over the years, I’ve seen House of Friendship feed, house and care for vulnerable people with unwavering commitment. Their approach has always been to identify community needs and respond thoughtfully. I know that work will continue, just as it has since 1939. Gifts in Wills provide the essential funding that makes their vital work possible.

As I continue to watch House of Friendship grow and adapt to changes, I’m filled with confidence for our community’s future. Your support—whether through volunteering, monthly giving, or including House of Friendship in your Will—provides the fertile soil in which new ideas can take root and thrive.

The trees we plant today will provide shade for generations we’ll never meet. Will you be part of this legacy of kindness that continues long after we’re gone?”
