Thank you! On Wednesday, July 11, more than 150 golfers joined together to Play with Purpose, helping support the Charles Street Men’s Shelter.
It was a beautiful day on the links for golfers at Grand Valley Golf & Country Club and Doon Valley Golf Course. Golfers enjoyed a variety of fun activities, from chipping and putting contests, to vying for a hole-in-one prize.
It was all with one goal in mind – to give men facing homelessness a chance to connect with staff who care, who listen and who will support them in their search to find a place to call home, in addition to providing a warm bed and food.
Golfers were treated to a dinner banquet, where they heard inspiring stories from the Charles Street Men’s Shelter, including Matthew’s Story, which can be viewed here. They also received and bid on great prizes generously donated by our community.
The evening ended with a ‘Fund Belonging’ auction, with all proceeds going to the Charles Street Men’s Shelter. The combined efforts of golfers, sponsors, volunteers and donors raised an amazing $56,000 to provide food, housing and hope.
Next year’s Friendship Golf is set for Wednesday, July 10, 2018. We hope you can join us for another year of Playing with Purpose!
