Ways You Can Help

We have heard from so many caring people like you reacting to the news of our temporary shelter closure. Many of you are asking how you can help – thank you! Here are a few ways you can lend your support as we continue to work with our community partners as this situation evolves:

  1. Become informed about the issues around homelessness in your community.  Read about the Point in Time Homeless Count in Waterloo Region, and learn how you can be an advocate for those in your community who are homeless or precariously housed
  2. Donate to Waterloo Region shelters. There are many caring, compassionate staff working with individuals experiencing homelessness who need your support.
  3. You can donate needed items to support Shelter participants during this time.
  4. See how your support is changing lives.  Watch Roy, who shares his story – from homelessness to housed. Your support helps men like Roy.

And while our Shelter program is temporarily impacted, all of House of Friendship’s other programs, in four service areas including food, addiction treatment, supportive housing and community resources in low-income neighbourhoods are not impacted, and will continue full operations. Your support continues to be needed to help make these programs possible throughout Waterloo Region.

Thank you for your heartfelt care and support. It means so very much.
